Synopsis:

Savandurga is a hill 60 Kms west of Bangalore off the Magadi road. This is a huge monolith standing 1226 meters above the sea level. It is situated near to Magadi town and the remains of the fort built by Kempegowda can be found atop the rock. There are two rock hills named Karigudda and Biligudda with a pond near by. From the top the Akravati river can be seen. The Arkavathi River passes through the Thippagondanahalli reservoir and on towards Manchanabele dam.

How to Reach:

There are two routes to reach Savandurga from Bangalore. First, via Magadi where you can take the Magadi road from Bangalore. At Magadi, take the Ramanagar road to the left. Around 7kms from Magadi, you will come across a board on the left hand side, indicating the way to Savandurga. Secondly, a better route though longer is via Mysore road. From Bangalore take the Mysore road untill you reach Ramanagar and then take the road going to Magadi on to your right side. The same board as mentioned earlier, showing the direction to Savandurga can be located on the right side about 7kms before Magadi.
